Ginkgo nuts? Your experience!?

Have you ever cooked using ginkgo nuts? Or your family, say grandmother? I tried several times gathering fresh ones, cleaning them, and cooking (boiling and roasting). The end was a little disappointing - bland, boring.

Ginkgo nuts? Your experience!?
I never roasted them, but I remember cracking the shell and putting them into steam egg custard(chawan-mushi). I think that%26#039;s the best way to eat them. Ginko nuts aren%26#039;t my favorite, but I think that%26#039;s the dish you should try them in. Try searching %26quot;chawanmushi.%26quot;
Reply:Never tried.
Reply:They are bland by themselves; the make a nice addition to soups and stir-fried dishes, however.
Reply:I%26#039;ve never eaten them on their own before. We%26#039;ve always only used it for soups and desserts, just as another ingredient but not for flavour.

I personally don%26#039;t really like the taste of them but it%26#039;s supposedly good for memory.
Reply:I added them to some Multigrain Rice, and some stir-fries and soups. They were yummy.
Reply:you can%26#039;t just eat them alone, they must be added with other stuff.
