Is Ginkgo Biloba safe to take when you're on 3 Blood Pressure Medicine?

Also is Ginkgo Biloba a blood thiner? Same questions for Gotu Cola?

Is Ginkgo Biloba safe to take when you%26#039;re on 3 Blood Pressure Medicine?
Ginkgo biloba stimulates cerebral circulation and oxygenation, and improves mental clarity, alertness and memory by increasing blood flow in the small capillaries in the brain.

Side-Effects - Adverse effects related to ginkgo are relatively mild and infrequent and include nausea, headache, diarrhea, dizziness and occasional allergic dermatologic reactions. However, rare cases of hematomas and bleeding have been reported. Ginkgo biloba does not interact with any drug, so it can be taken regularly.

Counter-Indicators - Ginkgo%26#039;s antiplatelet effect should be considered if the patient is taking other agents with similar blood-thinning actions. Tell your physician if you are taking Ginkgo, and do not vary the dose without telling him.

Gotu kola improves memory and increases mental stamina.Treats burns and wounds.

Builds connective tissue, and strengthens veins.

Pregnant women or those who are trying to conceive should not use gotu kola.

Do not take with sedatives or tranquilizers.
Reply:Ginkgo Biloba improves blood flow to the organs, and does not react negatively with other blood thinners.
Reply:No Ginkgo is a antioxident which does thin your blood so it would be like doubling up on your blood medicine. I over did my antioxidents a couple months ago. If you start getting a throbbing pain by your left temple you may have over done the blood thinners and antioxidents and need to check with the doc.
Reply:Ginkgo--Improves memory, concentration; patient may think more clearly. Overcomes sexual dysfunction occurring with SSRI antidepressants. May be able to slow progress of Alzheimer%26#039;s disease, improve intermittent claudication. Interactions--May increase bleeding time with aspirin, dipyridamole, warfarin. Precautions--Avoid use in those taking anticoagulants or those hypersensitive to poison ivy, cashews, mangos. Side effects--GI disturbances, headache, dizziness, vertigo. So to answer your question %26quot;Is Ginkgo Biloba safe to take when you%26#039;re on 3 Blood Pressure Medicine%26quot;, yes. %26quot;Is Gingko a blood thinner%26quot;, yes.

Gotu kola--Improves memory, intelligence, venous insufficiency, wound or burn healing, psoriasis. Interactions--None known. Precautions--GI upset, nausea, pruritis, photosensitivity. So Gotu kola is safe to take with BP meds. And is not an anticoagulant.
